Health And Leisure Walks

(223All are welcome to guided, free, sociable, HDC walks led by trained volunteers; no need to book, just turn-up at the start point. A booklet containing over 250 walks is available from the Walks Co-ordinator on 07720 714306 or online at   Beginners are recommended to contact the Walk Leader to discuss suitability. All walks can be wet and muddy in places.

(2238) Every Sunday & Wednesday 2:30pm: Horsham Heritage Guided Walks

A 2 mile walk taking 90 minutes. Meet at the Museum in the Causeway. Do you know much about the history
of Horsham? Guided historical walk to learn more about its’ history and to see changes that have happened over the past centuries. Supported by The Horsham Society. Please ring for more information.

(1001) Every Monday 10:45am: North Heath, Horsham,

Meet in the car park of the Sussex Barn pub, off North Heath Lane, at the junction with St Mark’s Lane, RH12 5PJ (TQ181328). Choose a gentle 30 or 75minute walk, up to 2 miles, around the riverside in the North Heath area. Suitable for slow or new walkers and those who wish to enjoy a regular easy walk. Refreshment and toilets are available in the pub after the walk.

(2003) Every Tuesday (EXCLUDING SCHOOL HOLIDAY WEEKS) 12:00pm: Denne Hill, Horsham

Meet at the bandstand in Horsham Park, by the café, RH12 1RJ (TQ175308). A very brisk 3¼ mile walk
taking 1¼ hours. Through the town, Causeway and up Denne Hill returning by a gentle descent via Pedlars Way and Chesworth Farm. A sensible pair walking shoes advisable. Can be extremely muddy during the winter. Refreshments and toilets are available in the café. No dogs.

(1007) Every Wednesday 10:30 am: Horsham Park Stroll.

A 1½ mile flat walk on hard-surfaced paths around the Park including a look at the pond. Very suitable for the elderly and people recovering from illness. We usually stop for coffee in the Conservatory Café. Dogs allowed on a lead. Walkers can choose to walk for 30 or 60 minutes Meet at the Bandstand in the Carfax (RH12 1RJ).

(1002) Every Friday 10:30am: St Mary’s Church, Causeway, Horsham.

Meet outside St Mary’s Church in the Causeway,Horsham, RH12 1HE (TQ171302). Gentle walk of 2½ miles, through farmland or edge of woodland. Wheelchairs and buggies welcome. Gentle slopes. No stiles. Well-behaved dogs welcome and on a lead if passing sheep or cattle. FREE dog biscuits and water for dogs! FREE tea, coffee, hot soup, hot chocolate, cold juice and biscuits. At start of walk patrons may use toilets in St Mary’s Church (as agreed with Sexton).1½ hours.

(1027) Sun 10, 17 & 24 June 10:30am: Leechpool and Owlbeech Woods

Meet at Leechpool Wood car park, Horsham (TQ194313), off Harwood Road (B2195).  A lovely 2¼ mile woodland walk, taking 1¼ hours, generally following main paths and easy under foot, although a small part of the walk will be on narrower paths with tree roots, stubs and uneven ground. Some inclines. Can be muddy. Dogs on a lead are welcome.

FREE guided cycle ride led by trained volunteers. Meet outside Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre, RH12 3YS. Easy starter-level off-road HDC ride on the Downs Link for adults ONLY. Council
bikes may be available. 2½-3½ hours.

Meet at Millais School Depot Road. Park in Depot
Road, Hampers Lane and Smithbarn. Please do not park across drives. Delightful 6-mile walk, taking 3 hours. Into St Leonards Forest following the High Weald Way, for some of the time. Can be muddy. Well behaved dogs welcome.

Meet in the Leechpool Wood car park (Roffey End), off Harwood Road (B2195), Horsham (TQ 194313). Various 2/3 mile generally easy circular walks, some gentle slopes. Suitable for new walkers and
families most welcome. No dogs please. 1 to 1 ½ hours.

5½ miles. 2½ hours, via the Wapple Way, conker alley and Warnham. Return to Rookwood for refreshments. Can be muddy. No dogs. Please park at the far end of the car park and meet at the car park
